In 1961, a few concerned citizens got together and decided that it was essential for Sachse to be able to respond to its own fire calls. In September of 1961, sixteen men stepped up to respond to the call of FIRE and the Sachse Fire Department was formed.

The wives of the firemen felt that more was needed to aid the firemen. They banded together and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Sachse Fire Department was formed. They began hosting bake sales, rummage sales, and other fundraising projects to purchase equipment and protective gear for the Sachse Fire Department.

These two dedicated groups of citizens served our city without fail for over four decades until 2004 when the Sachse Professional Fire Department was officially formed. 

This tribute serves as a reminder to all visitors of this park that Sachse heroes are simply volunteers that lived to serve selflessly for the greater good of our community. The volunteers of the Sachse Fire Department (volunteer firefighters & the ladies auxiliary that supported them) is just one examples of the many community heroes in Sachse’s history.
